From February 12 to March 6, 2022, Pure Fiction presented an exhibition and performance program at the KoÂlnischer Kunstverein in Cologne titled "Shifting Theater: Sibyl's Mouths". The starting point was a collective reading of Mary Shelley's 1826 novel The Last Man, in which the narrator discovers a collection of scribbled oak leaves scattered in a cave outside Naples. Alleged prophecies of the Cumean Sibyl, the textual fragments inscribed on the leaves foretell the story of an epidemic that ravages the globe in the 2100's--a period where solitude, intimacy, and the perception of time is radically renegotiated. Through a multiplicity of textual genres and writerly approaches, contributors examine the questions and forms that emerge from prophecy: the role of the voice in text, writing and performance; fragmentary heterogeneous narratives. The mouth is consulted, not only as a mouthpiece or as a cavernous instrument for vocalization but as an essential part of the digestive tract. Processes in the gut, such as assimilation, excretion, and regurgitation involve multiple temporal directionalities, and may function as metaphorical gateways to intuitive truths. 546 $a Text in English with some parallel text poems with English on the versos and Arabic on the rectos. 585 $a On the occasion of the exhibition "Shifting theatre : Sybil's mouths" held at KoÂlnischer Kunstverein, February 12 - March 6, 2022. 650 0 $a Performance art $v Exhibitions. 650 0 $a Oracles $v Fiction. 650 0 $a Prophecy $v Fiction. 650 0 $a Art, Modern. 650 7 $a Art, Modern. $2 fast $0 (OCoLC)fst00816615 650 7 $a Oracles. $2 fast $0 (OCoLC)fst01046988 650 7 $a Performance art. $2 fast $0 (OCoLC)fst01057852 650 7 $a Prophecy. $2 fast $0 (OCoLC)fst01079199 655 7 $a Exhibition catalogs. $2 fast $0 (OCoLC)fst01424028 655 7 $a Fiction. $2 fast $0 (OCoLC)fst01423787 700 1 $a Aiello, Rosa, $e editor. 700 1 $a Kim, Ellen Yeon, $e editor. 700 1 $a LandstroÂm, Erika, $e editor. 700 1 $a Schlegell Von, Mark, $e editor. 700 1 $a Meyer, Luzie, $e editor. 941 $a 1 952 $l OVUX522 $d 20231117021946.0 956 $a http://locator.silo.lib.ia.us/search.cgi?index_0=id&term_0=F999D33C56B111EEB3013A8641ECA4DBInitiate Another SILO Locator Search
