Inspired by the architecture of Dr. Caius at his undergraduate college in Cambridge, Cosin was encouraged to value the architecture of the English Church by his patron Richard Neile. Under Bishop Neile, Cosin became a prebend of Durham Cathedral and Rector of Brancepeth in the Bishopric of Durham during the 1620s, as well as Master of Peterhouse and Vice Chancellor at Cambridge University during the 1630s. Cosin spent the years 1643 to 1659 in exile in Paris before returning to become Bishop of Durham in 1660 till his death in 1672. Cosin was actively involved in church architecture, fulfilling the "beauty of holiness" agenda of the English Arminian clergy, from the 1620s through to the 1670s."-- $c Provided by publisher. 600 10 $a Cosin, John, $d 1594-1672. $0 http://id.loc.gov/authorities/names/n84134047 600 16 $a Cosin, John, $d 1594-1672. 600 17 $a Cosin, John, $d 1594-1672. $2 fast $0 (OCoLC)fst00146034 650 0 $a Church architecture $z Durham $z Durham $x History $y 17th century. 650 0 $a Church architecture $z Cambridge $z Cambridge $x History $y 17th century. 650 0 $a Church buildings $z Durham $z Durham $x History $y 17th century. 650 0 $a Church buildings $z Cambridge $z Cambridge $x History $y 17th century. 650 0 $a Architecture, Renaissance $z Durham. $z Durham. 650 0 $a Architecture, Renaissance $z Cambridge. $z Cambridge. 651 0 $a Durham (England) $x History $x History $y 17th century. 651 0 $a Cambridge (England) $x History $x History $y 17th century. 651 0 $a Durham (England) $x Church history $y 17th century. 651 0 $a Cambridge (England) $x Church history $y 17th century. 650 6 $a Architecture chreÌtienne $z Durham $z Durham $x Histoire $y 17e sieÌcle. 650 6 $a Architecture chreÌtienne $z Cambridge $z Cambridge $x Histoire $y 17e sieÌcle. 650 6 $a EÌglises $z Durham $z Durham $x Histoire $y 17e sieÌcle. 650 6 $a EÌglises $z Cambridge $z Cambridge $x Histoire $y 17e sieÌcle. 650 6 $a Architecture de la Renaissance $z Durham. $z Durham. 650 6 $a Architecture de la Renaissance $z Cambridge. $z Cambridge. 651 6 $a Durham (Angleterre) $x Histoire $x Histoire $y 17e sieÌcle. 651 6 $a Cambridge (Angleterre) $x Histoire $x Histoire $y 17e sieÌcle. 651 6 $a Durham (Angleterre) $x Histoire $x Histoire $y 17e sieÌcle. 651 6 $a Cambridge (Angleterre) $x Histoire $x Histoire $y 17e sieÌcle. 650 7 $a Architecture, Renaissance. $2 fast $0 (OCoLC)fst00813917 650 7 $a Buildings. $2 fast $0 (OCoLC)fst00840962 650 7 $a Church architecture. $2 fast $0 (OCoLC)fst00860550 650 7 $a Church buildings. $2 fast $0 (OCoLC)fst00860599 651 7 $a England $z Cambridge. $2 fast $0 (OCoLC)fst01204479 651 7 $a England $z Durham. $2 fast $0 (OCoLC)fst01205926 648 7 $a 1600-1699 $2 fast 655 7 $a Church history. $2 fast $0 http://id.worldcat.org/fast/1411629 $0 http://id.worldcat.org/fast/1411629 655 7 $a History. $2 fast $0 http://id.worldcat.org/fast/1411628 $0 http://id.worldcat.org/fast/1411628 710 2 $a Pontifical Institute of Mediaeval Studies, $e issuing body. $0 http://id.loc.gov/authorities/names/n50021428 710 2 $a University of Durham. $b Institute of Medieval and Early Modern Studies, $e issuing body. $0 http://id.loc.gov/authorities/names/no2015100457 830 0 $a Durham medieval and Renaissance monographs and essays ; $v 4. $0 http://id.loc.gov/authorities/names/no2010113327 941 $a 1 952 $l OVUX522 $d 20191213013711.0 956 $a http://locator.silo.lib.ia.us/search.cgi?index_0=id&term_0=7D229A0AF76711E7BF59292497128E48Initiate Another SILO Locator Search
