That changed in 1940 when the Nazis occupied the Netherlands and Jewish citizens began to disappear. Corrie and her family, devout Christians, joined the Dutch Resistance and built a secret room in their house to hide Jews and refugees. The Gestapo applied unrelenting pressure on Haarlem, continually raiding homes to snatch Jews and Resistance members. When Corrie and her family were ultimately arrested in the winter of 1944, they faced interrogation, beatings, and possible execution. Before long, she and her sister Betsie were sent to the notorious RavensbruÌck camp. In the face of the horrors around her, Corrie found solace in her faith, and she ministered to other prisoners, providing comfort and hope. Miraculously, she survived, though by the time she returned home, she had lost many loved ones, including her father and Betsie. For Corrie, though, her journey was only beginning. Eschewing bitterness and embracing forgiveness, she provided free housing to hundreds of survivors who had been wounded by war, physically or emotionally. For the rest of her life, she traveled the globe as an evangelist, sharing her story of faith, hope, and love at churches, clubs, and prisons--even a leper colony. -- $c From inside front cover. 600 10 $a Ten Boom, Corrie. 650 0 $a Righteous Gentiles in the Holocaust $z Netherlands $v Biography. 650 0 $a Holocaust, Jewish (1939-1945) $z Netherlands $v Biography. 610 20 $a RavensbruÌck (Concentration camp) 650 0 $a Christian biography $z Netherlands. 650 0 $a Clock and watch makers $v Biography. 650 1 $a Christian biography. $0 (DLC)sj2021052087 650 7 $a HISTORY / Europe / Western. $2 bisacsh 650 7 $a HISTORY / Modern / 20th Century / Holocaust. $2 bisacsh 650 7 $a HISTORY / Jewish. $2 bisacsh 650 7 $a HISTORY / Wars & Conflicts / World War II. $2 bisacsh 650 7 $a HISTORY / Women. $2 bisacsh 650 7 $a RELIGION / Christian Ministry / Missions. $2 bisacsh 600 17 $a Ten Boom, Corrie. $2 fast $0 (OCoLC)fst00038257 651 7 $a Europe. $2 fast $0 (OCoLC)fst01245064 648 7 $a 1939-1945 $2 fast 650 7 $a Ten Boom, Corrie. $2 sears 650 7 $a Righteous Gentiles in the Holacaust $x Biography. $x Biography. $2 sears 650 7 $a Holocaust, Jewish (1939-1945) $x Biography. $x Biography. $2 sears 655 0 $a Christian biography. 655 7 $a History. $2 fast $0 (OCoLC)fst01411628 655 7 $a Biographies. $2 lcgft 941 $a 1 $n 1 952 $l NVPB663 $d 20230724091558.0 $n 8 956 $a http://locator.silo.lib.ia.us/search.cgi?index_0=id&term_0=58E98D942A2211EE8FDDFFBB133FDB2A 994 $a C0 $b IOZInitiate Another SILO Locator Search
