Social inequality is a historical characteristic of the region, but at the beginning of the 21st century, a handful of progressive governments seemed to be adopting policies that could reduce this historical trend. Many of these efforts, however, were blocked or reversed by the COVID-19 pandemic, which both exposed the persistence of historical trends and contributed to the emergency of new forms of inequality in the region. The different chapters in this contributed volume adopt a multidimensional, intersectional, perspective to analyze both the persistence and the emergency of social devices of production and reproduction of inequalities in the diverse Latin American and Caribbean temporal spatialities. The issues analyzed in the different chapters revolve around four main axes: a) persistence of generational and intergenerational inequalities; b) structural gender inequality; c) intertwined social inequalities: race, class and social structure and; c) historical and economic dimension of inequality. Persistence and Emergencies of Inequalities in Latin America: A Multidimensional Approach will be of interest to researchers interested in the study of social inequality and social justice in different fields of the human and social sciences, such as sociology, political science, history, economics, anthropology and education. It will also be a valuable tool for policy makers and social activists engaged in the discussion, advocacy and implementation of public policies aimed at reducing social inequalities. 650 0 $a Equality $z Latin America. 650 0 $a Equality $z Caribbean Area. 651 0 $a Latin America $x Social conditions $y 1982- 651 0 $a Caribbean Area $x Social conditions $y 21st century. 651 0 $a Latin America $x Politics and government $y 1980- 651 0 $a Caribbean Area $x Politics and government $y 21st century. 651 6 $a Amerique latine $x Conditions sociales $y 1982- $0 (CaQQLa)201-0242786 651 6 $a CaraiÂbes (Region) $0 (CaQQLa)201-0373679 $x Conditions sociales $0 (CaQQLa)201-0130300 $y 21e siecle. $0 (CaQQLa)201-0373679 651 6 $a Amerique latine $x Politique et gouvernement $y 1980- $0 (CaQQLa)201-0160541 651 6 $a CaraiÂbes (Region) $0 (CaQQLa)201-0373679 $x Politique et gouvernement $0 (CaQQLa)201-0130310 $y 21e siecle. $0 (CaQQLa)201-0373679 650 7 $a Equality. $2 fast $0 (OCoLC)fst00914456 650 7 $a Politics and government. $2 fast $0 (OCoLC)fst01919741 650 7 $a Social conditions. $2 fast $0 (OCoLC)fst01919811 651 7 $a Caribbean Area. $2 fast $0 (OCoLC)fst01244080 651 7 $a Latin America. $2 fast $0 (OCoLC)fst01245945 648 7 $a Since 1980 $2 fast 700 1 $a Vommaro, Pablo, $e editor. $1 https://isni.org/isni/0000000121427853. 700 1 $a Baisotti, Pablo Alberto, $e editor. $1 https://isni.org/isni/0000000464532698. 941 $a 1 952 $l OVUX522 $d 20230517011034.0 956 $a http://locator.silo.lib.ia.us/search.cgi?index_0=id&term_0=18BCB11C803411ED944134D030ECA4DBInitiate Another SILO Locator Search
