A Reuters Television production with Granite Productions. Host, David Frost ; narrator, Richard Wells.
Summary:
Looks at monarchies that fell during the century. By the end of the century, most of the world's monarchies had been swept away by assassination, war, and revolution. Looks at the royal families who fell from grace, from mighty empires like Austro-Hungary to smaller players like Farouk of Egypt and Zog of Albania, and at the still splendid world of India's maharajahs, who have taught their fellow royals a lesson in how to bow out in style. Appearing in the program are Otto, heir to the Hapsburg throne, and former King Michael of Romania, who some say stands the best chance of being restored to his royal seat.
