"La finta semplice is a comedy of love overcoming obstacles through deceit, with roots in commedia dell' arte. Mozart was 12 when he composed this "odyssey" (Irrfahrt) about people all yearning for marital bliss - except the eccentric Cassandro. But heroine Rosina wins his heart with feigned simplicity (hence the opera's title)"--Container.
