The men of the patrolling World War II destroyer USS Poe have strong opinions about Lt. Alec Austen. They think he's a coward. But they'll know he's a hero when Austen riskes his life to remove an unexploded bomb that hammered into an aft compartment ... and when he leads a precarious mission to rescue downed American flyers on an enemy-held Aleutian island.
