Summary:
Michael Dorsey is an unemployed actor who cannot find work in New York. When a friend does not get a part in a soap opera series, Michael dresses up as a woman and lands the part. Michael as "Dorothy Michaels" is a hit in the series. Only his agent and roommate know Michael's true identity. The comedy takes off when Michael falls in love with a co-star in the series--and the co-star's father falls in love with Dorothy Michaels! Jessica Lange won the Academy Award as Best Supporting Actress.
