Summary:
The girl at the Monceau bakery: A law student is attracted to a girl he sees in the street and wanders the area hoping to see her again. While there, he stops in for cookies at a quaint Paris bakery and becomes interested in a pretty brunette who works there. Is he truly interested or is she just a sweet diversion? Suzanne's career: Bertrand bides his time in a casually hostile and envious friendship with college chum Guillaume. But when the ladies' man Guillaume seems to be making a play for the spirited, independent Suzanne, Bertrand watches bitterly with disapproval and jealousy. La collectioneuse: A bombastic, womanizing art dealer and his painter friend go to a 17th century villa on the Riviera for a summer getaway, but their idyll is disturbed by the presence of the bohemian Haydee, accused of being a "collector" of men. My night at Maud's: Jean-Louis Trintignant plays an engineer seeking the perfect mate. Just when he thinks he has found her, he finds himself accidentally spending the night sharing the bed of a seductive divorcee, Maud. Claire's knee: Eric Rohmer's brilliant and insightful comedy of a man's secret and peculiar obsession with a younger woman. When a diplomat is on vacation in the beautiful countryside without his fiancee, he is introduced to two young, teenage girls by an old friend. Although he insists he has put all of his romantic feelings behind him, the two girls prove to be difficult to ignore. Claire's Knee is the classic story of one man's battle with desire and temptation. Love in the afternoon: A successful young executive living in the suburbs with his wife and baby finds himself attracted to, and then entangled with, another woman from his past.
