Summary:
Rupture: When picking up his mail, a man is excited to see a letter from his sweetheart. His excitement turns to sorrow when he gets home to his flat and sees that it is a Dear John letter. But that sorrow turns to anger as he figures that he will send her a Dear Jane letter in return. However, writing that letter isn't as easy as he hopes as he encounters one problem after another, from a broken fountain pen, to a temperamental ink well, to stuck stamps, to a broken desk.
Heureux anniversaire: A woman is preparing a romantic dinner for two for her and her husband to celebrate their wedding anniversary. Her husband is out running a series of errands, most of his stops to pick up anniversary gifts for his wife. But the anti-anniversary Gods seem to be working against him as Paris traffic and other problems at each stop seem to be holding him up from getting in and out and to home on time for dinner. Meanwhile, his wife has no idea what has happened to her husband.
Soupirant: Pierre is a shy man whose sole focus in life is studying astrology in solitude, which is often difficult since he still lives at and studies in his parent's house. His parent's would rather he date and get married. Not knowing how to approach women in a romantic way, he watches how other men operate and tries to emulate them, most often without success.
Yoyo: A man has everything: dozens of servants, a palace, vast woods, gardens, a lake, mechanical toys, private entertainment troupes of musicians and dancers. He has everything but love. When alone, he sits at a desk, sighing, and looking at a photograph of a pretty girl. One day, the circus descended onto his palace, and amidst all the fun it brought, he recognized the Amazon on the white horse, the girl in the photograph.
As long as you've got your health: A collection four short films. Insomnie: a man can't sleep, and reads about vampires until sunrise, when his wife finally wakes up and reveals her true nature. Le Cinématographe: Employees leaving the work find sitting in a crowded cinema quite a task. Tant qu'on a la santé: in modern times, everyone suffers from stress, and the psychiatrist more than anyone. Nous n'irons plus aux bois: A week-end hunter, a couple out for a picnic, and a farmer setting a wire fence find that a large wood is not large enough to accommodate them all.
Feeling good: A camper struggling to prepare a cup of coffee in nature finds himself banished to a fenced-in campsite alarmingly akin to a concentration camp.
Le grand amour: Pierre married Florence, the only daughter of a small industrialist. 15 years later, he is the boss, but his middle-class life worries him a lot. When a new young and lovely secretary comes, he starts dreaming.
Land of milk and honey: After the events of May 1968, the French went on vacations and were filmed during three months on the rural fairs, on the beaches, and on promotional campaigns for products and politicians. They spoke to the director's candid camera on a variety of subjects, from man walking on the moon to eroticism, from advertisement to marriage.
