Summary:
Jack Jefferson, a boxer who bows to no man, black or white, becomes the first black heavyweight champion of the world. But his outspoken ways and relationship with a white woman enrages bigots and racists both in and out of the boxing world. As attempts to 'silence' him mount, he flees the country. His subsequent odysssey takes him from the heights of fame and fortune to the lowest depths of existence. Based on the life of boxing legend Jack Johnson.
