Summary:
In this classic satire the Baroness Eugenia and her brother, Felix arrive in the autumnal New England of 1850 in hopes of improving their sagging fortunes. Seeking out their rich American cousins, Eugenia sets her sights on Robert, the most eligible gentleman in the neighborhood, but also encourages the affections of her young cousin, Clifford. Romance blooms for some as Felix falls in love, but not for Eugenia, whose European sophistication and guile are her undoing.
