Summary:
Albin Mercier, a failed and disillusioned journalist, is sent to Germany to cover an event. There, he meets a successful writer who's happily married to a Frenchwoman named Helene. Bitterly jealous, yet besotted with the beautiful Helene, he decides to ruin the couple's lives.
