This program chronicles the history and impact of the famous bill that guaranteed education, housing and business loans to the 16 million Americans who served in World War II. They had grown up in the Depression and then went off to war. They were destined to return home to an uncertain future. This single act of Congress made the future different for American GI's. It also changed the country. Viewers hear stories from some of the GIs who were helped by the bill, including Harry Belafonte, Art Buchwald, and former Senator Bob Dole.
