Mobile sculptor Timothy Rose introduces the viewer to the history of mobiles originally developed by Alexander Calder. He then demonstrates constructing three basic types of mobiles including articulated mobiles, tree mobiles, and spiral mobiles. He starts by showing the tools and materials and how they are used. Each mobile requires laying out the design, selecting and cutting the shapes, attaching and balancing the wires and pieces, and assembling, adjusting, and hanging the mobile.
