Summary:
A battle-hardened German sergeant tries to hold his platoon together on the Russian front during WWII. Not only must he try to hold his platoon together, but he must deal with his commander, a glory seeker, who wants to be awarded Germany's highest medal of honor, the "Cross of Iron."
