Summary:
The Manipur valley in North East India is home to Maibis, the only living representatives of the ancient Meitei culture that was prevalent in the valley before the advent of Vaishnavite Hinduism. After undergoing rigorous training in an institution known as the Loisang, which could stretch for even two decades, the Maibis are mandated to fulfill the role of healers and to preserve and transmit traditional knowledge of the environment, with which an intricate system of dependency had been built over millennia. The Film attempts to explore the role that the Maibis have played and are playing, their relevance and the threat to their very existence posed by the forces of 'development' and patriarchal mindsets.
