Sunny Randall is "on" again with Richie, the ex-husband she never stopped loving and never seemed to be able to let go, despite her discomfort with his Mafia connections. When Richie is shot and nearly killed - and his assailant references the sins of Richie's father, Desmond Burke - Sunny is dragged into the thick ofhis family's business as she searches for answers and tries to stave off a mob war. A family with a long and checkered criminal past, the Burkes have left more than a few enemies in their wake, but discovering the skeletons in the closet will be a challenge. Much of the old guard is already dead and gone, and Desmond'snot giving up his secrets now, no even to Sunny, not even to save his own life. As bullets start flying in Boston's mean streets, and Sunny finds herself targeted by the deranged mastermid of the plot against the Burke family, she may come to realize the motive is more personal - and far more shocking - than she could have anticipated.
