The award-winning feature film Gegen die Wand (Head-on) by the Hamburg-based filmmaker Fatih Akin led to the project of a documentary film portraying the diverse and vibrant music scene of Istanbul: Crossing the Bridge : the sound of Istanbul. The photographs in this volume were taken during the shooting of the film and consequently reveal facets of a city that has fascinated the director from his early childhood days: Istanbul. The musical backdrop to these impressions is provided by a selection of tracks from Fatih Akin's personal collection, including original and previously unreleased out-takes from the film.--Publisher's web site.
