Summary:
Told from the viewpoint of young Edward, who has recently come to live with his Uncle Silas in England's North Country. "Shandy Lil", Silas tried to pair off the titular Lil with the shy Pikey; "The race", Silas challenged arch-rival Goffy to a five-mile foot race; "A funny thing", Silas' efforts to match wits with his cousin Cosmo finds him posing for an amorous female sculptor; "Finger wet, finger dry", our hero is enmeshed in a compromising situation with the wife of the local police constable; "A happy man", it's Silas vs. old campaigner Walter at the annual flower show.
