Silent film with English intertitles and music soundtrack. In generic publisher's container. Reconstructed and issued by producer Sol Lesser from footage of the "Maguey" episode of Eisenstein's aborted epic "Que Viva Mexico" (shot in 1933).
Summary:
A silent film of the history and landscape of Mexico, Que Viva Mexico was intended to consist of four episodes. The "Maguey" episode is a love story about a peasant and his bride. In its present form the work was viewed by Eisenstein in 1947, and the director disowned the film (albeit after a 14-year fight to regain the original footage from sponsor Upton Sinclair).
