Summary:
A veteran of almost 3 decades in Congress, Gerald Ford was elevated to the Presidency at a critical juncture in the life of our country. Ford discusses the War Powers Resolution and other Congressional limitations on Presidential power, the personal qualities required of a President, limitations on Presidential terms of office, the threat of assassination, and the difficulties that confront the legislative branch. Presidential decision-making is discussed in the context of the pardon of Richard Nixon, the seizure of the Mayaguez, the summit meeting at Vladivostok, and other events in the Ford Presidency.
