Summary:
A surrealistic, allegorical portrayal of poverty, hunger, and death in a 16th-century Mexican village. On the Day of the Dead a starving woodcutter shares his food with Death, who rewards him with a healing potion that makes him wealthy but also brings the attention of the government and the church.
