Summary:
Planes, trains and automobiles : Neal Page (Martin) wants to fly home to spend Thanksgiving with his family. Del Griffith (Candy) leads Page on a hilarious, cross-country, wild goose chase that keeps him from tasting his turkey. Out-of-towners : Steve Martin and Goldie Hawn play Henry and Nancy Clark, a married couple from Ohio whose passion cooled long ago. But now their last child has left the nest, and the solidly Midwestern Clarks have a chance to relocate to New York City. A comedy in which the couple suffers one mishap after another during 24 hours in New York City. Leap of faith : Steve Martin plays Reverend Jonas Nightengale, a slick-as-oil flimflam man who'll trade salvation for a donation to his touring ministry. Jonas knows how to work a crowd and a con, but his works of wonder are done with mirrors and smoke. When his tour bus breaks down, Jonas pitches his tent in impoverished Rustwater, Kansas. While his manager (Debra Winger) tries to pursuade the local sheriff not to close the show, Jonas set his sights on a beautiful skeptic named Marva. But making a believer out of Marva is going to take a real miracle.
