While mass shootings are often described as psychological, the authors show that there are social factors that produce the anger needed to commit a mass shooting. These factors are fairly common and can be addressed to stem the anger earlier. The factors include chronic poverty, sudden unemployment, relationship problems, domestic violence, social isolation, and alcohol. Common social strains can metastasize and be lethally dangerous. By understanding the social factors, we can reduce the anger and frustration people feel that would drive them to killing others--back cover. 650 0 $a Mass shootings $z United States. 650 0 $a Violent crimes $z United States. 650 0 $a Firearms and crime $z United States. 650 0 $a Firearms ownership $z United States. 650 0 $a Crime $x Sociological aspects. 650 6 $a Meurtre multiple $z Ãtats-Unis. 650 6 $a Crimes violents $z Ãtats-Unis. 650 6 $a Armes à feu et criminalité $z Ãtats-Unis. 650 6 $a Armes à feu $x Possession $z Ãtats-Unis. 650 6 $a Criminalité $x Aspect sociologique. 650 7 $a Crime $x Sociological aspects. $2 fast $0 (OCoLC)fst00883017 650 7 $a Firearms and crime. $2 fast $0 (OCoLC)fst00925627 650 7 $a Firearms ownership. $2 fast $0 (OCoLC)fst00925642 650 7 $a Mass shootings. $2 fast $0 (OCoLC)fst01923085 650 7 $a Violent crimes. $2 fast $0 (OCoLC)fst01167321 651 7 $a United States. $2 fast $0 (OCoLC)fst01204155 700 1 $a Jaworski, Christian Gonzalez, $e author. 776 08 $i Online version: $a Blum, Dinur. $t Critical mass. $d New York, NY : Routledge, an imprint of the Taylor & Francis Group, [2021] $z 9781000467598 $w (OCoLC)1263870133 $w (OCoLC)1263870133 941 $a 1 952 $l UNUX074 $d 20230218011027.0 956 $a http://locator.silo.lib.ia.us/search.cgi?index_0=id&term_0=FEFF3D12AF5911EDB66B324357ECA4DB 994 $a Z0 $b NIUInitiate Another SILO Locator Search
