Summary:
Details the migration of Mexicans to the United States after being recruited beginning in the 1870s because of labor shortages during World War I. During the Mexican War, refugees fled to the United States and received train travel as they agreed to work for the railroad. Describes the living and working conditions once they arrived in Silvis, Illinois. The Rock Island Line had large railyard, therefore many of the families settled in Cook's Point and Silvis, Illinois.
