Summary:
Gas-s-s-s: When a deadly gas kills everyone over 25, the world devolves into a chaotic and zany struggle for power. And as a band of peace-loving hippies goes cross-country to find utopia--only to find football fascists and demented dictators--they soon discover that even the American dream has a touch of gas! The trip: Paul Groves is a TV commercial director whose estranged wife, Sally, is pressuring him to sign their divorce papers. Feeling strain in both his professional and his personal life, Paul talks to a guru named John, who suggests that an acid trip will cure what ails him. The young racers: After a writer and former race car driver loses his financeĢe to an arrogant racing champion, he joins a racing team in an effort to get revenge. The wild angels: Bikers try to recover a stolen chopper. Bloody mama: Shelley Winters stars as Ma Barker who presides over her outlaw gang, consisting mainly of her goonish sons. Together they go on a Depression-era rampage of bank robbery, murder and kidnapping. A bucket of blood: Walter Paisley, a geeky waiter and busboy at a happening Beatnik cafe, is intensely jealous of the swinging social lives of the artistic types who hang there. A bizarre twist of fate changes everything when Paisley accidentally kills his landlady's cat, his frantic attempts to hide the body lead him to encase it in a layer of clay, creating a morbid sculpture which is eventually discovered and hailed as an artistic triumph by the unwitting Bohemian art crowd. The premature burial: A medical student and painter has an obsessive fear of being buried alive that compels him to build himself a tomb with a view, equipped with everything he can think of to escape death. But when his long-suffering wife convinces him to destroy the tomb, he finds himself in the gravest danger. X, the man with the X-ray eyes: A brilliant but unorthodox researcher develops an experimental chemical that allows him to look inside the human body. After his funding is cut off and he continues to experiment on himself, the drug has tragic consequences.
