Functioning alcoholic and history professor Patsy MacLemoore, having been charged with the deaths of two Jehovah's Witnesses she hit while driving under the influence, thinks about her past actions while in prison and emerges with a mission to do good, help those in need, and stay sober, but, after years of living the straight and narrow, an unimaginable piece of information comes to light which makes her reassess who she has become and reapportioned the blame over what happened on that fateful night.
