Summary:
When the Chicago-based Stepan Chemical plant in Matamoros, Mexico dumped xylene, a toxic solvent linked to birth defects, into open canals near the homes of the people of Matamoros, the people of Matamoros, through their community leaders and with help from the U.S.-based Coalition for Justice in the Maquiladoras, fight to end this contamination and demand a full accounting from Stepan Chemical and environmental agencies in the U.S. and Mexico, as part of their struggle for a clean environment.
