Summary:
Provides a new approach to the study of contemporary Spanish cinema between 2000 and 2015 through the analysis of films that represent both "high" culture and "popular" culture. The two film cultures are represented by Goya Award-winning films and box-office successes. The author's examination of the country's most important films in this sixteen-year period provides a rigorous academic analysis of contemporary Spain's film industry, identity, and culture.
