Before the town was called Forest City, Iowa, it was called Puckerbrush, in the Indian Territory. U.S. Marshal Clay Owen takes a train to California to bring back a cannon captured during the Spanish-American War. A mixed-blood kid named Dakota accompanies him, and while in Iowa, he learns about his great-grandparents, who lived in Puckerbrush before heading west in 1858.
