In 1977, with Iowa and Iowa State on the verge of renewing their football rivalry for the first time in 43 years, Bob Uetz had the idea that "their ought to be a trophy for this game." He took the idea to his bowling buddies, who pooled their money and created a trophy they dubbed "The Cy-Hawk." But that was just the start of a crazy journey that landed their trophy as the centerpiece of this renewed rivalry.
