Straighttalk with Derek McGinty (Television program)
Notes:
Closed-captioned for the hearing impaired. Host, Derek McGinty. Originally broadcast by the WETA television station, Washington, D.C.
Summary:
Despite the gains a generation of women have reaped from legislation outlawing unequal treatment, many advocates say that sports remain one of the most persistent areas of discrimination. Twenty-five years after passage of Title IX--which was created to ensure, in part, that women's athletic teams receive equal funding and treatment as men's-- McGinty and a panel of experts, in a talk show format, examine the objectives, achievements, and shortfalls of the issues related to Title IX.
