Alan Andrew Dean Miller was born July 23, 2004, to Ryan and Holly Miller, in Ann Arbor, Michigan, at the University of Michigan Hospitals. He passed away there on January 14, 2005. He was just five months and twenty-two days old. He is survived by his parents and two sisters, Erin and Megan. Alan, "Little Al,"was born with Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome (HLHS), a serious congenital heart defect in which the heart's left side, including the aorta, aortic valve, left ventricle and mitral valve, is underdeveloped. Three in ten thousand children are born with this life-threatening condition.
