Husband-and-wife lawyers Liam Taggart and Catherine Lockhart are asked by a friend to help his elderly Aunt Gabi who is being evicted from her Tuscan villa by a large corporation that claims to hold the deed to the land. The pair studies a leather-bound manuscript written by Ada Baumgarten years ago that holds a clue to the villa's ownership. Ada, a Jewish violinist in 1930s Berlin, fled with her family to Bologna but danger followed them. Liam and Catherine find a mystery of lies, corruption, and evil that they hope they can solve before it's too late for Aunt Gabi.
