Outlaw Jasper Mudd kills a marshal and takes his identity. He then wanders off into the desert to reunite with the rest of his gang to divvy up the loot from their most recent robbery. When a Pinkerton hired to track down the stolen bounty stumbles upon the body of the deceased marshal, Jasper's path to a new life becomes a fight for survival. As Jasper continues to thwart his attempts at capture, the Pinkerton's pursuit becomes a personal obsession to bring the outlaw to justice.
