880 $6 500-00/Cyrl $a A companion to the Corning Museum's 1987 special exhibition of the same name, this catalog features photographs and detailed descriptions of 161 Roman glass objects from various museums and private collections in the United States and Europe. The exhibition drew on the collections of The Corning Museum of Glass, the British Museum, and the Rӧmisch-Germanisches Museum of Cologne. The exhibition, enriched with pieces from major Italian museums, showed the story of Roman glass in the Imperial Age (100 B.C. to A.D. 500). The collections provided examples of every major development in glassmaking techniques and decoration during that period. The book was published by Olivetti (Milan, Italy) for The Corning Museum of Glass, the British Museum, and the Römisch-Germanisches Museum.
