Als spaÌter AuslaÌufer des surrealistischen Theaters steht das poetische Theater in einer avantgardistischen Tradition, weshalb die Avantgardetheorie als Referenzrahmen dient. FuÌr die unterschiedlichen Phasen des Avantgardetheaters (historische Avantgarde, nouveau theÌaÌtre, postdramatisches Theater) werden Denkmodelle entworfen, die seine Entwicklung illustrieren und eine Situierung des poetischen Theaters innerhalb der Avantgarde moÌglich machen.
