Summary:
The drama of a town's fight against injustice, hunger, and death. A frail young teacher is sent to Rio Escondido by the President, to investigate the living conditions and corrupt bureaucracies of the countryside. She arrives to find that a bully has seized control of the town. She turns her teaching to show the townspeople how to defend themselves and battle for their rights. The film originally contained a short color sequence featuring Diego Rivera's murals.
