Summary:
A teleconference held during Black History Month, 1989, to celebrate the black heritage and the contributions of Afro-Americans to American history and society. Sponsored by the publication Black Issues in Higher Education, the program focuses on the history and achievements of Afro-Americans in the fields of education, entertainment, politics, music, sports, military service, business and civil rights. Short documentary film footage ("Reflections") and interviews are interspersed with panel discussions featuring prominent black Americans from all these fields, with audience participation in the form of statements, questions and telephone calls.
