Summary:
A small-town poet inherits a fortune and sets New York on its heels by his simple honesty. In New York, "sophisticates", including relatives, lawyers, and business executives, attempt to have him declared insane in order to gain control of the fortune. [Comedy about Longfellow Deeds, a small-town poet who inherits $20 million from his uncle and is promptly declared insane by petty moochers, relatives, conniving lawyers, and big business executives; they all want a piece of the pie and are upset because Longfellow decides to give the money away to needy people.]
