Summary:
Accused of fabricating a defense for his client, Manchester lawyer, Jack Roper throws his life and the lives of his legal team into turmoil after his single-minded pursuit of the truth puts his career in jeopardy. Tensions run high between Jack's chambers and those of the prosecution, headed by his one-time mentor, Laurence Scammel, much to the annoyance of Laurence's daughter, Laura. Relations become more complex between Charlie Darling and his wife, Tess, as well as between Jack and Laura.
