Summary:

"In the early years of the 20th century, a group of fortune hunters travels to Xinjiang in search of gold. One of these is Xu Tianxiong, a tough but good guy with a past, wanted by the government for having killed some agents in a gold mining incident. He rescues a man called the 'King of Panners' from persecution by a mine boss. Xu wins the trust of all the miners, and in time becomes the new 'King'. He leads them in the search for a gold cave which could make them all rich. The miners find the gold, but it does not bring them happiness, as disaster strikes."--The Chinese Filmography, 1997.
