Catalog of the exhibition held March 17-June 18, 2017 at CAC Málaga. Includes bibliographical references.
Summary:
This catalogue presents Jia Aili?s first solo exhibition at the CAC Málaga, and features 28 paintings, many of which are large-scale canvases. His scenes pulsate with the dire lightning and turbulent skies of otherworldly storms and technology. One of China?s most remarkable rising stars, Aili is closely bound to the culture of his country, and his work reflects the dramatic changes his generation has experienced. A recurring theme in his often dark and surreal portrayals is the launch of the first Chinese astronaut into space ? a symbolic and inspiring event that marked the birth of a new capitalist nation and confirmed China?s ascent as a global superpower. 00Exhibition: Centro de Arte Contemporáneo, Málaga, Spain (17.03. - 18.06.2017).
