Thurgood -- A call to act: Ledbetter v. Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company.
Summary:
Thurgood: a video production of the critically acclaimed George Stevens, Jr. play starring Laurence Fishburne as the nation's first African-American Supreme Court justice. A call to act: Ledbetter v. Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company: This documentary tells the story of Lilly Ledbetter, whose fight for equal pay for equal work eventually involved all three branches of government. In the U.S. Supreme Court she challenged the interpretation of the statute of limitations for filing a discrimination complaint; she urged Congress to reconsider the language of the statute and to rewrite the law. The result was the Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act, the first bill signed by President Barack Obama in 2009.
