Summary:
Michael and his wife, Sarah, both doctors, live aboard their yacht with their daughter Ronnie, bringing much-needed medical care to remote, inaccessible places. Then, in the equatorial Pacific, Sarah and Ronnie sail off to answer a distress call from a gigantic commercial vessel. Left behind to tend to an ailing islander on a deserted atoll, Michael watches helplessly as his yacht disappears onto the deck of the hulking ship, which then steams away with his wife and daughter aboard. With only a primitive canoe at his disposal and no navigational equipment except the stars, Michael sets off to find his family and rescue them from an obsessed, vengeful madman.
