Summary:

In a small village in India, Acharya Udupa, a Vedic scholar, teaches a few students about Brahmin ideals. Yamuna, his young daughter, a widow, who is in love with the local schoolmaster. Yamuna becomes pregnant and experiences the fury of the orthodox village.
