Buried in the archives of a national newspaper in Chile, a journalist finds a trove of letters, dated from 1960 to 1962, dispatched from Baghdad to Prague, written by Alito Machuca Pailahueca (a Mapuche painter) to Josef Beran (a Czech academic). The journalist provides a commentary to these letters, weaving the concerns of his time with the concerns of the correspondents.
