Enhanced compact disc contains pdf booklet with essay by Gerald Early, "The last king of America: how Miles Davis invented modernity," and an article titled "Betwwen the takes" which offers transcriptions of the session dialog and commentary by Ashley Kahn. Accompanying DVD contains "Celebrating a masterpiece," a newly expanded version of the 2004 mini-documentary "Made in heaven," featuring new interviews; and "The sound of Miles Davis," the Miles Davis Quintet with the Gil Evans Orchestra, performing music filmed for CBS Television in 1959.
