Summary:
The god Amore triumphs over the goddesses Virtù and Fortuna when Poppaea Sabina, a morally corrupt patrician's daughter, becomes the second wife of the Roman emperor Nero, in an opera with many characters adrift in deceit, manipulation, blackmail, repudiation, slander, and murder.
